KnowExactlyWhatYou'reCoveredFor.
We calculate replacement costs down to the granite countertops, copper piping, and century-old oak shading your front porch — so you're never left short after a claim.
The Gap They Don't Show You
Identical storm. Identical home. Two policies. The difference between a standard ACV policy and Shield's Extended Replacement Cost.
Actual Cash Value — depreciation applied to every component. What it cost 12 years ago, not what it costs to rebuild today.
You cover the remaining $84,500 out-of-pocket.
Today's material and labor costs. Every system. Every finish. Including what the standard policy conveniently omits.
Full rebuild. Zero out-of-pocket gap. Your home restored.
The Coverage Gap on This Scenario
Average homeowner discovers this gap at claim time. Not before.

Every year. Without reducing coverage by a single line.
What the Fine Print Actually Says
Actual policy language. Side by side. No paraphrasing. Read what you're signing before you sign it.
Section 14.3(b): Coverage for mold remediation shall be limited to losses directly resulting from a covered peril occurring within the immediately preceding seventy-two (72) hour period, provided the insured demonstrates, to the Company's satisfaction, that reasonable measures were taken to mitigate further damage. Mold resulting from humidity, condensation, or gradual seepage is expressly excluded under Section 14.3(b)(iv). Maximum mold remediation benefit: $5,000.
Mold Remediation Coverage (Section 8.1): If mold is found during a covered claim inspection, we cover remediation costs up to $50,000 — regardless of when the mold originated, as long as it's within the affected area. You don't need to prove when it started. You don't need to prove you acted within 72 hours. If it's in the house and connected to a covered event, we pay to fix it.
Section 22.1(a): Rebuilding or repair costs shall be limited to the cost of like kind and quality materials in use at the time of the original construction of the dwelling, without regard to any ordinance, law, or regulation requiring the use of different construction methods or materials. Code upgrade costs are not covered unless Ordinance or Law endorsement (Form OL-7) is separately purchased.
Code Compliance Coverage (Section 11.2): When rebuilding after a covered loss, we pay to bring your home up to current building codes — automatically. This is not an add-on. It's in every Shield policy. If your 1998 electrical panel needs to be replaced with a 2026-compliant panel, we cover the 2026 cost, not the 1998 cost. Because that's what it actually takes to rebuild.
